The importance of urotensin II level in the diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia

Aim: This study was conducted to investigate the diagnostic importance of Urotensin II (UT-II) levels, which cause vasodilation as a compensation mechanism in early phase Acute Mesenteric Ischemia (AMI). For this purpose, human plasma urotensin studied for first time literature diagnosis mesenteric ischemia.
 Material and Method: The consisted 60 patients. patients were divided into three groups: Group 1: group with ischemia (n: 20); 2: abdominal pain no 3: control complaints 20). blood samples taken from through peripheral venous access, (UT-II), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Lactate, D-dimer levels measured.
 Results: While significant increase found between Group1 2 Group3 terms UT-II values (p0.05). A Group2 regarding AST There difference groups concerning ALP Lactate (P>0.05).
 Conclusion: It concluded that could be used AMI but there need comprehensive studies investigating changes time-related serum levels.
